Hey, what's Carole Migden up to these days?

Carole migdenTurns out, quite a bit.  Carole's been busy, in her own inimitable style, these last few months as her term as my state senator [thankfully] nears an end.

You can read about Carole in other posts herehere and here.  Strange bird.  I wonder if the cancer medication made her think everyone wanted to see her six pack abs?

Anyway:

Item 1

Take a look here for details of a story that, oddly, wasn't covered in Migden's hometown (actually, not really hometown - that would be the Oakland Tribune, see below) newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle.  I'm sure the Chron just didn't have space for the story & there's no backstory that the Chron has its collective lips planted so firmly on Migden's backside that it just didn't want to print the story.  Nope, I'm sure that's not it.  Anyway, the thought that Chron chief loser editor Phil Bronstein (dumped years ago by Sharon Stone in one of the messiest divorces in San Francisco in recent memory) with his lips planted firmly on Midgen's ass makes me smile (Hey, Phil, any port in a storm, right?)

The August story concerns yet another instance of Migden's continuing efforts to cement her position as the worst boss in Sacramento.  I think with her being term limited out of state government maybe they should just retire the trophy for Asshole Boss and give it to Carole as a lifetime achievement award.  I guess the good news is that at least this time no one went to the hospital.

Item 2 -

And, speaking of the SF Chron, there's an article in Matier & Ross' column (the only decent part of the Chron) this morning about the criminal's jobs program Dem patronage system under Don Perata that will ensure that Carole has a place to work after being voted out of office this year.  Carole (the incumbent) lost the Dem primary to Mark Leno, whose only claim to suitability for the job as state senator was that he is not Carole Migden.  What an ass kicking.

Anyway, not to worry, thanks to outgoing president of the state senate Don Perata (known to NoCal FBI agents as "suspect"), Carole will be working sitting on her ass as a member of the board of Integrated Waste Management Board of California.  IWMB is one of a number of political patronage boards that do absolutely nothing (Garbage - should we still throw it away?  Yes?  See you next meeting Carole.)  The board meets once a month, apparently for no more than a couple of hours (starting at a gentlemanly 9:30 am and adjourning in time to get to the club for lunch).  Don't believe me?  Check out their agenda. Fortunately, Carole won't have to worry about money in her new job, she'll be moving up to $132,178 per year (at 2 hours a month, this amounts to $5,507 per hour), a nice change from her current part time gig as state senator, which only pays $116,208 per year.

Item 3 -

Lastly, I'll call your attention to continuing questions as to whether Migden is even qualified to serve as my state senator given issues that have been raised over the years as to her residency within San Francisco (or lack thereof).  One blog posting here discusses it, although the issue has been raised numerous times.  A couple of the differences between Carole and Ed Jew is that Ed Jew hadn't spent 20 plus years kissing ass to current Sacramento powerbrokers and it's politically much safer to be a lesbian than an Asian in San Francisco.

In fairness, I'll call your attention to the last comment in the post linked above, written by Migden's domestic partner, asserting that Migden is and has been a resident of San Francisco for years and years and years.  Wink wink nudge nudge.

In summary, it's good to know that Carole will be getting a pretty cool state job.  Well, not exactly a job, let's say she's getting a pretty cool state paycheck and leave it at that.  This saves her from having to do the unthinkable: detaching herself from the state teat and getting a real job.  Which she wouldn't be able to do - anyone with a documented history of abusing employees as long as her record is would have a very very difficult time getting a job that included any supervisory role at all.  And from the looks of her abs, getting a job as a either a model or an exotic dancer is out out out.
